Abstract

FDG-positron emission tomography (PET) has augmented lymphoma imaging from morphology-based assessment to functional metabolic evaluation. The introduction of the Deauville five-point scale and its incorporation into the Lugano classification marked the beginning of the "Deauville era" providing a standardized staging and response assessment, enabling risk adapted therapy and prognostication in FDG-avid lymphomas and detection of histologic transformation in lymphomas with low FDG uptake. Beyond visual interpretation, volumetric biomarkers such as metabolic tumor volume and total lesion glycolysis have demonstrated important prognostic value. Emerging Artificial Intelligence applications are further expanding the role of FDG-PET in lymphoma management.
